I am pleased – immeasurably pleased – to be able to say that I’ve finished my exams, and I did it without missing an update, just as promised. This means I should be able to devote a little more time to the comic (I’ve got a long summer ahead of me) and to various other things I have going on. In other news, Jake and I recently saw Kamui: The Lone Ninja and For Love’s Sake, the former of which was fun but did in fact contain other ninja and the latter of which goes beyond description. Suffice it to say, the world needs more action musicals.

I really enjoyed ‘For Love’s Sake’ , it was really cool seeing Japan doing a Bollywood style film, especially one with such a great sense of humour. In a lot of ways it reminded me a bit of Seijun Suzuki’s ‘Fighting Elegy’, another movie about rebellious youth in Japan. Interestingly, Suzuki also went on to make a musical film called ‘Princess Raccoon’ which is also a lot of fun (anyone who’s seen ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ might also recognise Zhang Ziyi in it). I could talk about Japanese movies for ages but to avoid this blog becoming a list I think I’ll save future recommendations for another time. Ciao!
